Description

Italian Fried Mozzarella Balls are a delightful Italian snack featuring mini mozzarella balls coated in a light layer of seasoned flour, dipped in egg wash, and rolled in Italian breadcrumbs. After a brief freezing step to firm up the coating, they are quickly fried to a golden crisp, ensuring a perfect contrast between the crunchy exterior and the oozing, melty mozzarella center.

Ingredients
20 units mini mozzarella balls (approx. 400 g total)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (125 g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (2.5 g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (1 g)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten (approx. 100 g)
  • 2 cups Italian seasoned breadcrumbs (220 g)
  • 2 cups vegetable oil, for frying (500 ml)
Instructions
  1. Pat dry the mini mozzarella balls with paper towels.
  2. Prepare a breading station with three bowls: one with the flour mixed with salt and black pepper, one with the beaten eggs, and one with the Italian seasoned breadcrumbs.
  3. Dredge each mozzarella ball first in the flour mixture, then dip into the egg wash, and finally coat evenly with the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. Arrange the coated mozzarella balls on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for 25 minutes until firm.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Fry the mozzarella balls in small batches for 1–2 minutes until the coating turns golden and crispy, working quickly to prevent the cheese from melting.
  7. Remove the fried mozzarella balls with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot, optionally with marinara sauce for dipping.
